Why Physicians Should Practice Medicine in Oklahoma

Article

Dermatologist Carlos Garcia shares his perspective on practicing medicine in the state of Oklahoma.

Dermatologist Carlos Garcia, of Oklahoma City, Okla., recently told Physicians Practice what he loves - and would change - about practicing in The Sooner State.

What do you enjoy about practicing in Oklahoma?
Friendly people; lots of patients from rural or
semi-rural areas; good camaraderie among dermatologists; low cost of living; traffic is not bad
at all; and religion is still important here.

What don't you enjoy or would change about practicing in Oklahoma?
The weather is brutal (I lost one home to a fire in 2009, another to a tornado in 2011).
It is difficult to recruit physicians from out of state.
