Why Physicians Should Practice Medicine in Indiana

Pediatrician Dan Dusleag is an employed physician working in a large, multispecialty group practice, Southern Indiana Physicians, which is part of IU Health (Indiana University Health). His local pediatric group, based in Bedford, Ind., has six pediatricians and a nurse practitioner.

He settled in Bedford following completion of his residency program in Chicago. He's been with IU Health for 15 years, and says that he likes being on the IU campus with all that it has to offer. He's also close enough to visit the Windy City when he wants.

For you, what is the best part of practicing medicine in the state of Indiana?

Dusleag told Physicians Practice that he chose to practice in Bedford because, "I saw the rural population that has the need [for healthcare]. And I like to do that. I'm doing something useful and serving a population that needs my help."

He also says he likes the advantages of working for a large healthcare system. Among them: "systems of care, quality of care, all of those things you envision will come with a larger corporation like this."
