Physicians face major challenges meeting the requirements for Stage 2 of the EHR incentive program. Let us know if your practice has started preparing.
Providers who successfully attested to Stage 1 of the government's EHR incentive program in 2011 can now participate in Stage 2.
But anecdotal evidence suggests that Stage 2 is off to a slow start, according to a recent article appearing in Healthcare IT News. According to the article, providers face big challenges in meeting the Stage 2 requirements, including difficulty balancing the incentive program with other health reform initiatives, and difficulty meeting the patient engagement requirements.
Furthermore, if you are behind your peers in attesting for Stage 1, it's not as easy to catch up.
While these challenges should come as no surprise to physicians, they serve as a reminder that physicians should heavily prepare if they hope to satisfy the Stage 2 requirements.
Have you started preparing for the Stage 2 rules to meet meaningful use?
