Is there is a procedure code for a sleeve gastrectomy?

Question: Is there is a procedure code for a sleeve gastrectomy?

Answer: No, there is no specific code for it, though you might use the unlisted procedure code (43999). Keep in mind, however, that Medicare doesn’t pay for either open or laparoscopic sleeves. In addition, many commercial payers don’t cover sleeve gastrectomies or cover them only under very specific circumstances.
