With all the useful information available on Physicians Practice, it is easy to become overwhelmed.

With this in mind, the tip of the week is a chance to reflect on some of the wisdom found all across the site. In this July 2024 article on collecting from high-deductible patients, Lucien W. Roberts, III, MHA, FACMPE, gives this tip:


7. Consider credit card on file

With appropriate safeguards, practices can keep patients credit cards on file and charge them for patient balances as long as the patient has given you written permission to do so.You do not want the liability of keeping their credit card information onsite, so use a certified and secure third party to retain the information.
