Robert M. Tennant of the MGMA looks at the effect HIPAA is playing on the use of health IT at medical practices.
"HIPAA will have a dramatic impact on health IT," according to Robert M. Tennant, senior policy advisor for the Medical Group Management Association's Government Affairs Office.
In this video, Tennant describes how HIPAA's Omnibus rule and changes in how medical practices are using technology effect the protection of patient data. He also offers guidance for practices to safeguard this data and avoid a breach - and a subsequent fine from the federal government.
Tennant will present "Critical HIPAA Privacy and Security Issues Impacting Medical Groups" at the MGMA14 Conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Oct. 28 from 2:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
