It’s more important now than ever to pay attention to the healthcare fraud statutes and ensure that you are complying.

The Affordable Care Act provides an additional $350 million to the Health Care Fraud and Abuse Control Program to ramp up antifraud efforts, which include increasing scrutiny of claims before payment, investing in sophisticated data analytics, and employing additional law enforcement agents to identify fraud and abuse.

New rules written into the reform law also impose stricter federal sentencing for fraud offenses and inflict stronger civil and monetary penalties for violations.

In this podcast, Todd Rodriguez, a healthcare attorney with Fox Rothschild LLP based in Exton, Pa., defines the Civil False Claims Act, identifies some of the common missteps you could be making in relation to it, and provides some key compliancy tips.
