ACOs: Changing How Physicians Care for Patients

Video

Watch this video to learn how participating in an ACO is affecting physicians and staff at a five-physician practice in Hunt Valley, Md.

Over the past year, accountable care organizations (ACOs), in which groups of health systems partner up to improve care quality while reducing care costs, have sprung up across the country.

Still, confusion remains among physicians regarding what an ACO is and what participating in one entails.

In this video, physicians and leadership with Greater Baltimore Health Alliance Physicians LLC, one of the earliest participants in the Medicare Shared Savings Program, discuss how participating in an ACO is affecting physicians, staff, and patient care.

Based in Towson, Md., Greater Baltimore Health Alliance Physicians LLC includes providers from eight independent practices, Greater Baltimore Medical Associates (GBMA), and Greater Baltimore Geriatric and Palliative Medicine.
