Preparing Your Medical Practice Staff for ICD-10

Video

Everybody at your practice has a role in the ICD-10 transition, but that doesn't mean they should all be coders. AHIMA's Kathy DeVault explains.

With 17 months until CMS enacts the switch from the ICD-9 to ICD-10 coding set, you may be wondering how to best prepare all the members of your medical practice.

In this video, Kathy DeVault, senior director of professional practice for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), says while everyone has a role, don't turn everyone in your office - including physicians - into professional coders.  She explains what each member of your staff should focus on to prepare for the October 1, 2014, deadline and how to get them ready.
